Libingston Parish
Louisiana, USA
The city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana is in East Baton Rouge parish, it is the most populous parish in Louisiana. If you go East from Baton you’ll soon cross over into Livingston Parish, with a population of about 130,000 It is the 10th largest in the state. Baton Rouge has expanded to such an extent that many Livingston Parish communities have essentially become suburbs of the greater Baton Rouge metropolitan area.
Over the last 20 years or so many communities in Livingston Parish have made the transition from rural to suburban, with many residential developments popping up across the parish, but its rural roots are still evident in many places.
Unfortunately in 2016 Livingston as well as East Baton Rouge parishes were severely affected by such heavy rainfall that many homes and businesses were flooded up to their roofs. Official estimates state that 75% of homes were a total loss.
The images in this gallery were taken between 2005 and 2014, well before the flood, so I have no idea if anything in the images still exists.
