Andorra
Andorra is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the world. Officially the Principality of Andorra, this landlocked country of about 76,000 inhabitants and just 180 sq mi (468 sq km), lies between northern Spain and southern France. Its capital, Andorra la Vella is the highest capital in Europe.
Andorra does not have its own airport, its hilly terrain makes that impossible, it does however have a heliport. There is an airport close by in Spain, Andorra–La Seu d'Urgell Airport, about 17 mi (27 km) from the capital. The airport, however, does not receive regularly scheduled airlines, only private aircraft and small charters can land there.
Also, Andorra does not have a main railway station, making it a rarity in Europe. The best way to get to Andorra is to fly to Barcelona and from there to drive the 127 mi (205 km) to Andorra. The drive is long, two and a half to three hours, but if you are adventurous the trip is well worth it. The roads are in excellent condition (though you might get hit with a snow storm in the winter months) and the views are absolutely stunning on the way there.
Andorra is not a "party town" not a place to look for wild times, quite the contrary, what is attractive is how peaceful it is. The food is excellent (unless you're Gordon Ramsey of course) and it is a shopper's paradise as there are no sales taxes in Andorra.
Take a stroll on the pedestrian Avenida Carlemany which is filled with stores of every sort, Go visit the Plaça Coprínceps where the shopping district more or less ends, find a nice non touristy place to eat such as the Hotel Oriol, or hopefully you'll have a car and can take a ride in the mountains and enjoy the absolutely gorgeous views. In many places, if you didn't know better, you could think you are in Switzerland.
Take route CG-2 and head for the mountains towards France, about 10 mi (16 km) from the center of Andorra la Vella you'll come upon a supermarket called "Caves Manacor", a treasure trove of food, liquors, wines and a huge variety of housewares, decorations and travel souvenirs. Right next door you'll find the "Perfumeria Francestil" a perfume factory store that also offers soaps, bath salts, lotions, etc.
For such a small nation Andorra offers an incredible variety of activities which include skiing, canoeing, biking, hiking, and the longest alpine toboggan run in the world in Naturlandia, among others. Andorra receives over 10 million visitors per year. A truly special and unique place to visit.
