There's hardly anyone in the world that would need an introduction to Las Vegas. Casinos, gambling, partying, showgirls, nightlife, mobsters and wiseguys all form part of the local folklore.

Las Vegas, which bills itself as "The Entertainment Capital Of The World", is a place where you can gamble, buy alcoholic beverages, go to a restaurant, go shopping and participate in other forms of entertainment 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Las Vegas has been made famous the world over in movies, TV shows, books, and as part of the history of the United States. What visitors and even some locals don't know is that what is commonly know as "Las Vegas" is not even in Las Vegas. That's right, the world famous "strip" is located in sections of the city known as Paradise and Winchester.

Cities such as Enterprise, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Paradise, Spring Valley, Summerlin, Winchester, and other comprise the area commonly known as Las Vegas and often also "The Valley". The Valley itself comprises quite a large area, it is possible to travel 35-40 mi (55-65 km) without once leaving the urbanized area.
