About Me

I developed an early interest in photography when my grandparents gave me a Kodak Instamatic in the mid 60’s, I have some pictures I took with that camera to this day and you’ll find some of them right here in the film section.

I got my first 35 mm SLR in the 80’s, a Yashica that got lost, or stolen, along with most of my negatives and prints during a move. Later I got a 35 mm Minolta X-700 SLR, but because of the cost of film, processing and prints I always found film photography limiting.

I purchased my first digital camera around 2003, an RCA CDS1005, a very basic 0.3 megapixel camera with an internal memory of 2 mb, no option for additional storage and only offered a 640 by 480 maximum resolution. As basic as that camera may have been it opened the doors to digital photography and digital processing.

I’ve been through a number of digital cameras since, from pocket cameras to DSLRs, from cameras that promised a lot but fell short on delivery. Since I have a background in IT and extensive computer experience I found myself delving deeper and deeper into digital darkroom processing.

Through the years I learned a lot from manuals, articles and internet searches, but probably more from the things that can’t be learned in a classroom, by trial and error.

Today I like to think of myself more as someone who creates art using his photography as a canvas rather than a photographer. Yes, I make extensive use of editing software, Photoshop, Lightroom, Nik Tools, Topaz Labs plugins and many others are my tools.

None of the photos you will see on this site are the way they came out of the camera, I love to experiment with color levels, details, and texture, particularly texture. The pictures where I can give the subject a texture that can almost be felt are by far my favorites.

I currently reside in Henderson, Nevada, just minutes away from the world famous Las Vegas “Strip”, a place that offers many things and interesting people to photograph. However, the immediate area has much, much more to offer than just casinos and street performers.

From the Hoover Dam to Red Rock Canyon, from Mount Charleston to Spring Valley Ranch, from the Springs Preserve to the picturesque Boulder City there are many places to visit and ample opportunity for the casual and professional photographer alike to take that particularly nice picture.

I don’t pretend to be an artisan, just someone who likes to create something hopefully different. In the end, whether you like my work or not will be a matter of taste, though as any creator does, I hope you will.
